MOOG SYSTEM 55

via this auction where you'll find more images. Details: "Here is probably the last Moog System 55 of this planet. This is a rare opportunity to buy this legendary monstrous modular synthesizer. The Moog modular was used by most of the world-famous composers like Keith Emerson, Hans Zimmer, Vangelis, Pete Namlook, Tangerine Dream (Klaus Schulze), Wendy Carlos and others pioneers... The Moog modular synthesizer offered musicians a revolutionary new way to produce sound when it was released in the 1960s. It was originally intended for use in recording studios and universities and was not intended for (or widely embraced by) musicians for use in live performance. The analog electronics of the system often made sound generation unreliable and unpredictable during live performances.

This System 55 come in excellent (Mint) conditions, all modules are perfect and original of course, no keyboard but you can drive the modular with midi to cv converter box or the new synthesizers.com keyboard.
As you can see in the photos the system has a rich configuration because it mount another 904A lowpass filter respect the standard system 55 release ...so there are 3x filters + Filter coupler AMAZING!!!"

  1. Nice, but it's not really a model 55 is it? More of a franken-Moog. I'll bet you could make some noise with that though. Oh wait... no noise source? Probably not fully functional, notice the routing switches in the fourth mixer panel. Just what would they route, no oscillator bank above. Cool Moog, but probably not factory original as suggested in the auction.

  2. It shouldn't matter it's not really a 55 because it's "probably the last Moog System 55 of this planet"... oh and Vangelis never recorded with a Moog modular if indeed he ever played one.

  3. WoW, very nice custom 55!! not standard because with another 904A filter in plus, less the noise... I think much more better so.

  6. No original 55 here,i think even the cabinets are not from original moog 55 as this 55 was already offered for sale months ago without any buyer, its a very nice system but the asking price is too much considering its just a close 'assambly' to look like a 55,the modulles are also from different batches.

And its certainly not the last Moog modular on this planet lol

  7. In fact the seller write "probabaly" the last Moog of the planet. There are some other Moog but not more for sale ;-)
If a system 700 was sold for more of 40000$ ...I think that it is a good price. A moog modular is a Moog modular into his original or not cabinet, This Moog configuration is cool I think, 3 filters + coupler are awesome!

  9. CV!: If this is very important for you I'm a firend of the seller. I can write because I know very well this system that I've tried personally. It is monstrous and fully operative! I had a chance to buy before but impossible due to my low budget ;-) All the best

  10. Imagine the system you could build w/ 45K US: an insane amount of Doepfer Modules (heck, even Wiards - *my* faves!); you could even buy the largest Buchla (currently in production and *with* support) and _still_ have 5 grand left over! Or if you want to go digital, a new Mac Pro tower with the best in/out gear + soft synths, and enough left over to buy a Prius... Heck, you could get 15 Moog Voyagers and hook 'em all together! I mean, I have some old gear (if you can count my 1980 MS-20 as "old"), but I really don't get the vintage thing...

  11. And of course you could build a massive Moog-format system out of Dotcom, Suit & Tie Guy, Moon Modular and Cynthia modules. Which would of course contain innovative modules that were never part of th original Moog line. But that isn't the point of buying a vintage, rare item is it?
