Waldorf Blofeld Editor OSX

via Carson aka bouchemandela the forum: "Hey all,
I've been working on a blofed editor built in MaxMsp on and off for about a week.
I still need to do a little work on the arpeggiator section, but everything else seems to be working fine. Below are links to both the editor file and some pics of the current revision, as well as a link to the Max 5 runtime which you will need to run the app. It only runs as a standalone as max5 has no ability to make plugins at the moment

*features include*
- get sound from synth, updates virtual editor with current sound buffer data
- Full control over all parameters including FX, Modifier, Modulation (Arp to be completed)
- onscreen feedback when parameters are changed on hardware

*To do*
- Finish Arp section and controls
- Devise a send patch with text input or possible librarian section
- implement some sort of monome arpeggiator controls
- implement Multi editing

*Setup*
- Under Global on the Blofeld, set ctrl send type as sysex/cc, ctrl receive to on, local control on
- In the Editor select the midi I/O and set input and output to appropriate blofeld channels.
- In the Editor hit get sound (bottom center), editor will update settings and away you go!

Let me know if you guys have any problems with this and I would be happy to help to the best of my abilities.
enjoy,
Carson"

Update via Carson on the Waldorf list (also mentioned in the comments of this post):

"*updates include*

- oscillator 1&2 shapes now include generic user wavetable slots
- arpeggiator section complete
- some fixes to some weirdness in the FX slots
- some other things I can't remember at the moment :)

@evening1 I'll think about how I might be able to include a randomise
button. At the moment it doesn't appear that the blofeld sends any message
when the randomise function is used, which leads me to believe that I would
have to rig something up.

@hopselektronics the editor sends CC's and Sysex to the blofeld but only
receives Sysex from the blofeld. To be honest i was inspired by your
editor, I have reaktor as well but was frustrated that I couldn't access all
the parameters. This was my first major foray into building an editor in
max. Even after using max on and off for the past few years, it makes my
head hurt. so thanks for your work as well! and everybody else that has made
and is working on editors!

I hope it provides you all with some long sleepless nights of synth mania!
cheers,
Carson"

  1. Hi

This looks great! Can the Shape be expanded to include the user wavetables and user samples?

this doesn't work on my system

works fine although theres a few mixed up routing entries like selecting lfo 1 to modulate PW actually selects LFo 2 for some reason

    - onscreen feedback when parameters are changed on hardware.

  3. Hi all,
@resequencer, I'll def be able to add generic slot names for the additional wavetables, I will need to look into the wavetable data sheet to figure out if I will be able to have those slots update their names though.

@hps909- thanks for the kind words, I just realized I misspoke in my post, the ctrl send type in global settings of the blofeld should be just sysex. This should fix most if not all your problems. The get sound command can get a little bungled if the blofeld and the computer aren't setup properly, which is why I suspect your getting misrouted commands. if you do start to notice mis mappings, close and re-open the editor. I'm not having any mismappings on my system. hope this helps.

@evening1 thanks very much, I hope it is useful for you

  6. Thanks Carson. I'll give it a run over the weekend. It's Friday afternoon in Melbourne, so it's going to be a weekend effort.

    Nice work.
