"We have been working hard for many months on a new firmware version for the Continuum Fingerboard. This new firmware will include a custom programmable synthesizer. We are in the final stages of testing and design. We are both very excited about this product, and look forward to getting it into the hands of Continuum players. It's called the EaganMatrix.

The EaganMatrix is a modular digital synthesizer, allowing the user to finely craft their musical sound through connecting a myriad of
s via a patching matrix. This matrix is inspired by classical modular synthesizers like the ARP 2500 and the EMS Synthi 100. However, unike those analog predecessors, the EaganMatrix doesn't use virtual pins to make patch point connections. Instead, a dynamic formulaic equation can be placed inside a selected patch point, creating a simple to amazingly complex relationship between the Continuum playing surface and the flow of sound from patch point source to destination. Each three dimensional performance direction of the Continuum playing surface can influence the final result of this single patch point. And there are many, many patch points!

This relatively simple concept is powerful. It harnesses the amazing performance response of the Continuum Fingerboard so that the performer can create expressive, dynamic, and totally custom sounds. Sounds tailored to the specific musical tastes of the creator.

Best thing is is that the hardware for the EaganMatrix already resides inside the Continuum. So for anyone that has a Continuum with internal sounds, the EaganMatrix is already there, waiting to be unleashed. When released this firmware upgrade will be free (as always).

Here's a list of the synthesizer
s for each voice in the EaganMatrix.

• Three summation oscillators, each with controls for frequency, phase, and spectral balance. The oscillators also act as wave shapers, creating some cool harmonic enhancement effects.
• A noise source
• Two Multimode filters, with control of audio input, frequency, and bandwidth. possible filters are LowPass, HiPass, BandPass, Low Shelf and High Shelf, as well as unity gain BandPass, Notch, and AllPass.
• Two Biquad filter banks, which are banks of 8 related but independent biquad filters, with controls for audio input, frequency, frequency spread, bandwidth, bandwidth spread, spectral centre, and spectral weighting. These biquads are the same technology that are used in the current Continuum to create the physical models like the winds and strings, so it's really cool to have these as a programmable
.
• A time delay, with controls for audio input and time,.The time delay is suitable for creating chorus and flanging effects, and can be used for fast slap delays as well.
• Four independent LFOs, each with controls for cycle mode, frequency, and trigger. Waveforms available are RampUp, RampDown, Pulse, Triangle, Hann, Square, Sine, and SampleAndHold. The way the LFOs have been integrated into the EaganMatrix is VERY unique. Very musical, very powerful. You'll love it.
• 8 CVC (Continuum Voltage Convertor) outputs. This requires the a CVC be connected to the Continuum to be active.
• 3 independent Midi controller streams for sending formulas to a connected Midi device.
• Output level via formulas.

Common controls for all voices:

• Reverb control via formulas
• Convolution body control via formulas

There's also an integrated soft saturation on the output stage, in order to create distortion and overloading effects.

As well as this EaganMatrix, there are a bunch of other improvements to the Continuum operation in general. This includes things like programmable mapping for the Kenton Controller patch naming archiving, and retrieving, and numerous other features and refinements."
