"Here's your chance to own this rare historic synth. All knobs, keys, pots and wood-housing is original. Everything has been cleaned and everything is functioning. This thing produces beautifully warm bass and lead sounds. And the ring modulator will take you into some wild sci-fi territories too. Only major blemish is a chipped key (see last photo) key still is fully functional.

The Korg 770 is a monophonic analog synthesizer introduced by Korg in 1976. Based on the same circuitry as the two-VCO version of the Mini-Korg, the 770 offered a more conventional re-packaging, and some control improvements to make the synth more versatile.

VCO 1 offered five choices of waveform, with triangle, sawtooth, square, pulse, and a pulse-width-modulated (rate controlled by an LFO) pulse wave on tap, or an external input could be selected. The VCO included an octave select switch with six settings, including a 64' deep bass setting. VCO 2 produced only a sawtooth wave, or it could be ring modulated against VCO 2, or any of three varieties of noise could be selected. The tuning could be offset from VCO 1. A blend control allowed the user to select the mix of the two signal sources. Other controls at the right side of the panel allowed the user to apply an "auto bend", or vibrato controlled by a dedicated LFO separate from the main LFO. (There were no pitch or mod wheels.)

"A less common, dual osc monophonic gem from Korg. A very cool and flexible little synth. Has the awesome filter ('traveler') from the earlier 700 as well as the “audio in” of the MS-20. This one‘s in great shape and just got a round of maintenance from our in-house techs so is working perfectly."

"This was a rescue that needed a lot of work. Synth works and sounds great now. Has cosmetic wear to the faceplate, see photos. No circuit modifications were performed, everything was left as it was.

Work performed:

-Full power supply recap (Nichicon electrolytics)

-All solder joints reflowed on every single board (this actually restored full electronic functionality)

-New Alpha brand 10K power/volume potentiometer switch (Original broken)

-All pots, switches, and faders fully flushed out with contact cleaner and followed up with DeOxit Faderlube as needed

-New knobs (Originals missing)

-New fader caps (Originals missing)

-Keybed removed and fully disassembled and inspected, keys ultrasonically cleaned (needed no repairs or adjustments, was just very dirty)

-New 2-prong power cable properly soldered in (no splices or twist caps)

-New custom-cut unfinished birch ply side panels from Send Cut Send (originals were heavily damaged/broken, hole alignment isn't perfect, still looks good, finish them in the stain/color of your choice)

-New black 3D printed keyboard side trim pieces (designed them myself in CAD, originals were heavily damaged/broken)

-New 3D printed Korg badge on back (Designed myself in CAD, original one was missing)"

"Awesome synth. Very similar to an ms-20 but unique. The traveler filter is Awesome. Unlike the ms-20 it has pwm. Very Very good at basslines. It is in good shape. None of the pots are scratchy. The only problem is that the highest key is slightly to the side and the spring mechanism isn't bringing the key up by itself. The key triggers the note still, and the note doesn't stay on when you lift the key up, so it doesn't affect playability. Comes with a midi kit I never got around to installing it."

A note: I said in the video that this synth was the last of the first generation of Korg monosynths (miniKORG 700/700S, maxiKORG 800DV, SB100, 900PS) but have since realised that the M500 came out in 1977 that does still use the 'traveler'. However, that is a very limited preset synth and I'm sure you can see what I mean by the lineage from miniKORG to the MS range.
