Primordial Melodies \ Digitone Machinedrum Modular Synth Jam

video upload by VoltageCtrlRtv

"This week I embarked on another sonic exploration with my trusty modular synth, digitone, and machine drum to create a new composition. As I plugged in the cables and turned on the machines, I felt a familiar excitement coursing through my veins. I began to tweak the knobs and dials on the modular synth, experimenting with different sounds and textures. The digitone provided a melodic foundation, and the machine drum added a pulsing beat that made my head nod. As the composition started to take shape, I lost track of time and became completely absorbed in the creative process. It was only when I stepped back and hit the "play" button that I realized I had just spent the last hour or so lost in the beautiful chaos of this composition. I made the stems of this song available for my http://patreon.com/voltagectrlr subscribers."

Sonic Visions of the Ancestors | Macchinedrum Digitone Modular Synthesizer

video upload by VoltageCtrlRtv

"My new single dropping on Friday with another unreleased composition.

'Sonic Visions of the Ancestors' is a mesmerizing composition that seamlessly blends reimagined African rhythms with a futuristic soundscape. The use of a modular synthesizer, Elektron Machinedrum, and Digitone FM Synth creates a unique and otherworldly sonic experience. The intricate layering of beats and melodies takes the listener on a journey through time and space, evoking the spirit of the ancestors while also looking forward to the future. The pulsating rhythms and haunting melodies interweave with each other, creating a sonic tapestry that is both captivating and hypnotic. The composition is a testament to the power of music to bridge the gap between different cultures and time periods, creating a timeless and transcendent experience.

i included the stems so yall can dissect and or remix the elements in your own production for my http://patreon.com/voltagectrlr subscribers along with sound packs for all the elektron instruments and .wav sample packs.

Machinedrum Digitone Modular Synthesizer Jam Session

video upload by VoltageCtrlRtv

"I like the power of the Elektron Machinedrum for other worldly rhythms, mixed with the versatility of the FM tones from theDigitone, and the flexibility of the modular synthesizer to create unique and captivating sonic landscapes. By utilizing the Digitones intuitive step sequencing, and extensive sound design capabilities, along with the modular synthesizer's endless patching possibilities, I'm able to craft complex rhythms, intricate textures, and unconventional soundscapes that defy categorization. Whether blending together digital and analog elements, or fusing together elements from various musical genres, this sonic combination is perfect for an innovative approach to beat making.

Reaktor Blocks West Kept Secrets vol.1

Published on Aug 3, 2016 VoltageCtrlRtv

"West Kept Secrets Vol.1 is a collection of live improvised modular synth compositions inspired by the west coast synthesis perspective explored by composers like Morton Subotnick, Don Buchla, Charles Cohen and Todd Barton. Even though the compositions are influenced by the aforementioned composers, I embark on a sonic journey adding my own experiences and influences to this creative school of thought.

This project is made with Native Instruments Reaktor6 Blocks software and an analog modular synthesizer.

Each ensemble includes all the snapshots that were saved as I performed the patch plus a lot of snapshots not recorded on the project for you to explore.

"This is a composition from a new modular synth Techno project I'm working on. All live one take jam sessions in the spirit of the founding fathers of the movement: Juan Atkins, Derick May and Kevin Saunderson. I wouldn't be making unclassifiable electronic music if it wasn't for the creativity, spirit and rhythm of these Detroit pillars of sound. My upcoming Techno release Negroshima is inspired by the inner city pulse of Detroit Techno with an inner city West Coast twist. This sonic offering is an auditory invite to get up and dance and get lost in the sound.
Thanks for listening."

Analog Alchemy VoltageCtrlR

Analog Alchemy Stems_promo from VoltageCtrlR on Vimeo.

"This is one of the compositions from my up coming analog alchemy album.

This project features 10 compositions recorded live in one take with a 6u modular synth case, Elektron Machinedrum and an Arturia Microbrute. This project is being released in the Nativeinstruments STEMS format.

Each song is made of 4 elements that you can remix on the fly as a dj or sample chop and loop the elements to create new songs.

The Stems file can also be played like a regular audio file in your favorite mp3 player, making this project a hybrid between an album and sound/loop library."

Live Modular Synthesizer + REON Driftbox (@obrienmedia) "Haven Deux"

Published on Aug 30, 2015 Patrick OBrien

"This is the live studio version of the modular synthesizer set I put together for the Analogue Haven event in Santa Monica, CA on August 28, 2015.

All sounds were from my 12U eurorack Modular Synthesizer and the new REON Driftbox-R Limited from Roland.

Specs:

- The intro was played on the REON Driftbox-R which was released in July 2015. You can see two of my demos of that little synth here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMnZU...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcCl4...

- The drums are all Hexinverter's Mutant Bassdrum, Mutant HiHats, Mutant Clap and Noise Engineering's Basimilus Iteritas.

- I played Music Thing's Mikrophonie with my thumb during the song transition with the sounds coming from Braids.

- Sequencing is done by Intellijel's Metropolis, Kilpatrick Audio's K4815, and the Make Noise Pressure Points via Brains.

- The vocal samples near the end is from one of those secret Easter eggs on Mutable Instruments Peaks.

- The case is from Monorocket.

- The T-shirt is in support of my fellow modular synthesist Shiro Fujioka, known as VoltageCtrlr on Instagram. Check out his captivating music, too: https://instagram.com/voltagectrlr

No computers were used in this piece. All modular synths."

Analog Meditation 432 Hz

Published on Jul 27, 2015 VoltageCtrlRtv

"This is a live improvised sound healing meditation performance recorded at the Inner Siddhi Sound Temple by Shiro Fujioka aka VoltageCtrlr (Voltage Controller).
This composition is tuned to 432 Hz, this frequency is great for putting the listener in a relaxed state to go deeper into meditation. This divine vibration is beneficial for mental and spiritual development because it is in resonance with the fractal nature of the universe.
This performance is a live one take recording from my upcoming Analog Meditation album that will be released 07.31.15

These are videos for Church Of Super Serge at Robotspeak in San Francisco last Saturday with Shiro Fujioka (you can see Shiro's performance here).

Dmitri is the man behind COA-Modular, makers of Serge panels and modules based on CGS.

Some additional details via Dmitri: "This month for the Church Of Super Serge we booked Shiro Fujioka AKA VoltageCtrlR to play his euro rack & Elise & I represented for the serge side of things by playing my / The Serge Monolyth as Slope114. Here are the videos in some kind of order. PS: Ive been horrible at documenting these events, anybody out there want to help? Just show up at the next Church & let me know 589, 1/2 Haight st. I for some reason thought I was recording our Slope 114 set & in the heat of the moment failed miserably with the audio recording BUT luckily Elise & I recorded a practice session the night before so here is a link to that on band camp. J Dilla - Phantom of the Synths (VoltageCtrlr cover)

Published on Feb 12, 2014 VoltageCtrlRtv·21 videos

"This composition is dedicated to the memory of the legendary HipHop producer J Dilla.
I find it very important to keep an artist legacy alive by giving thanks for their
creative accomplishments and respecting their work and not stepping on their toes.
A lot of people do Dilla tributes but most of them are written from a HipHop perspective, that's totally cool. i just wanted to do something different.
Given that HipHop producers sample from all styles of music I thought it would be an
interesting exercise to listen to a Dilla produced song and make an analog modular synth composition inspired by his use of Giorgio Moroder's 'Theme From Midnight Express',
I made sure to not listen to the original before recording because I didn't want it to influence my version.

This is a live one take improvised modular synth performance, no multi tracking, samples or editing. This composition begins with the feeling of loss and sorrow knowing that Dilla's catalog of music is complete and he will never write another song... then I slowly bring in the main melody and from there I pick up the pace as an energetic celebration of his life and legacy.
This is just an auditory thank you from me to Dilla and his family.
Be sure to donate anything you can to the Dilla foundation.

Eddie Harris - 'Zambezi Dance' Improv modular synth cover

Published on Feb 9, 2014 VoltageCtrlRtv·20 videos

"Jazz has always been a big influence in my life thanks to my Grandmother exposing me to it at an early age. Eddie Harris has always been one of my favorites, the 'Instant Death' LP is an incredible album from start to finish and it also holds more nostalgia because this album has been sampled by a few of my favorite HipHop artist back in the day.

This is a live one take improvised composition using my analog modular synth and the Arturia Microbrute.

For this composition I setup a complex analog modular synth patch built around the 250e patch from the MakeNoise Pressure Points / Brains manual. The bassline sequence is being generated by the Arturia Microbrute.

The Microbrute sequence is also controlling the pitch of the Harvestman Piston Honda and the envelope is being generated by the Malekko/Richter Envelator. This patch was way too busy to reverse engineer anymore of it.

Enjoy
