MacBeth Nexus 1 in White & Initial Price Estimate

via Ken MacBeth on Facebook

"I made an extremely rough estimate at £2.5K- it's a complex build- there will be manufacturing costs, assembly costs, distributor factors as well...but yes- that's a ball park figure!..."

You can find a video of the Nexus 1 posted back on Saturday here and the 1st track audio demo on Sunday here.

The Nexus 1 will be shown at NAMM.

micromac-d with touch arpeggio and seq with NEXUS

Published on Dec 9, 2012 by macbethsynthesizers

"Here's an experiment that I did. I replaced one octave of touch keys that I'm working on on an old scrap SH101.....it works perfectly!....my next shot is to give the scrapper SH101 a full three octaves as opposed to the two and a half octave keybed. If this all works- the touch keyboard I'm going to do as a stand-alone will have this built is seq! The sequencer is driving the up and coming Micromac-D synthesizer and I also played here the prototype of the experimental NEXUS 1 analogue touch synthesizer!"

Paul Hartnoll Meets...!

Published on Dec 9, 2012

"Last Sunday, Paul Hartnoll from the great electronic band Orbital paid a visit for tea and a sandwich, and also to talk synths a play around with some new projects that I'm working on. Here we see him tweaking with the MacBeth NEXUS 1 prototype. All sounds are recorded to the camera mic, as opposed to the desk- so don't expect high quality. It was a fun day and I was a guest in the evening for a fantastic gig that featured the MacBeth M5N played by a master!"

MacBeth Nexus 1 Prototype

via Ken MacBeth on Facebook

"When Paul Hartnoll from Orbital paid me a visit towards the end of last year- he tried out the NEXUS prototype- he said he liked it, but for him it was important that Octave switching for each oscillator (4) be included. We also talked about PWM. Now there is octave switching- and PWM for oscs 1 and 3. These are completely deicated modulators aimed at their target oscs...so two separate moving waveforms to add to one hell of a sound! I myself also wanted pitch bend- in this case *Ultrabend*, master tune and a dedicated master LFO control! NEXUS is NEXT!"

MacBeth - Slawson Avenue

Published on Dec 11, 2012 by macbethsynthesizers

"Inspired by visits to Santa Monica, and always seeing the 'turn right' sign for a place called Slawson Avenue- I did this track whilst experimenting with the Micromac-D pre factory model. I'm also using a Korg Prophecy as a controller keyboard and a 'scrapper' SH101 as an analogue sequencer. There's a Roland CR8000 on drums. My latest project Nexus 1 fits in here too! The Micromac series and the Nexus 1 basically complete my synth dream wishes!...I hope you enjoy.....Ken"

MacBeth NEXUS Prototype Pics

via Ken MacBeth on Facebook where you'll find more pics.

"This is a set of pictures that I've taken of the current NEXUS prototype and other equipment that I'm going to use in a video. I intend to demonstrate the separate pulse width modulators for Oscs 1 and 3. Then the home made panel gets removed for a great circuit change I'm about to do!"

MacBeth NEXUS Prototype Dual Analogue Joystick Test 1

Published on Oct 21, 2013 macbethsynthesizers·91 videos

"This video is a quick demo of the two joystick controllers that I've implemented on the NEXUS analogue synth controller section. One joystick controls Modulation (X-Axis) and Pitch (Y-Axis), the other joystick is controlling the Dual State Variable Filters Left Filter (X-Axis), Right Filter (Y-Axis) Hard to demo everything in a short space of time! The big full on sound eminated from the 4 Voltage Controlled Oscillators!"

MacBeth NEXUST TEST 4) PWM

Published on May 6, 2013 macbethsynthesizers·81 videos

"Here's a short burst of dual, independant Pulse Width Modulation on Oscillators 1 and 3 of the NEXUS prototype. Also listen out out for modulatiuon effects from the main LFO- in this instance- it's working Voltage Controlled from the Keyboard CV. The frequency of modulation changes as you go up and down the keyboard. This LFO/Modulator has now been re-design to be totally Voltage Controlled if required!"
