Lets try Betahistine

Published on Feb 1, 2017 snipz

"I don't really do drone. I think there are others out there who do it far better but I thought I'd give it a go.
Most interesting thing going on here is a Doepfer wavefolder processing Rings with Vulcan modulating the folding, and a Sport Modulator lfo going through a Flame Tame Machine with a custom scaling.
Oh, and I've still been very wobbly on my feet, hence the time to do another track and the name of it..."

Cinnarizine

Published on Jan 21, 2017 snipz

"I've just got through a bout of vestibular neuritis, an infection of the inner ear. Although not painful I could hardly move about and if I did I felt really sick and as if I was going to fall over. The doctors gave me Cinnarizine, an anti nausea drug that left me dozy and really spaced out.

This is a response to that feeling. I started the bass line prior to falling ill, everything else came together slowly during the week I was mostly horizontal...leaving me time to think about the track and then putting it together when I felt more industrious."

Frozen To A Blinding Heat

Published on Jan 11, 2017 snipz

"This was set up before Christmas, it changed and then changed again until I couldn't hold out any longer. With new ideas coming to mind it was time to record.

Modcan sequencer doing Qu-Bit Chord duties and the Telharmonic, Metropolis providing the clock and sequencing the subby uLFO bassline. Radio Music going through Echophone plus HertzDonut and FMVDO provding FM'd clangs. a few filters and some guitar pedals adding effects."

Easterly day 01

Published on Dec 4, 2016 snipz

"First track for an age. It's been patched up for weeks, no months, and had various re-patches but I could hold out no more. The Qu-Bit Chord going through the Strymon in orchestre mode...lush"

6 Days Oh Happineness

Published on Jan 3, 2016 snipz

"Third track of the festive season, this one was another quick patch loosely based on a Doepfer PLL sequence running through Rings. For the first time I've used a clocked SH101 sequence too, the sound just fitted straight into the mix."

The25th

Published on Dec 25, 2015 snipz

"This is something a bit more seasonal...for Mr Thorne!
Patched in around two days, a bit of a record for me...but still a bit rough sounding and the arrangement could be a lot better."

It's Not Ideal

Published on Jun 22, 2015 snipz

"First track for nearly three years.
Lots of reasons for this but it's not ideal!
Last foray with the A155/154 sequencer combo before I move onto new territories, and the first outing with the Strymon Big Sky that makes the chords sound so nice."

Composition for unborn daughter part 3

YouTube Published on Jun 8, 2012 by snipz

"Final third of the trilogy, with only three weeks to go before the due date! A simple patch but using the Flame Chord machine to produce the arpeggiated Piston Honda which is scrolling through the wavetables and ultimately given a sheen thanks to the Eventide Space. Sequenced Flame chords via the modded Doepfer clock sequencer and Circuit Abbey ADSR jr via a Flame FX6 in flanger mode. Bass is using an A155 sequencer to drive a Livewire AFG via a Flight of Harmony SoS. Bell sound is a Hertz Donut and Modcan FMVDO mixed and sequenced by a TipTop Z8000 and Intelligel uStep via the El Capistan delay pedal. Whole thing clocked thanks to the 4MS RCD and SCM."

Composition for unborn daughter part 2

YouTube Published on May 15, 2012 by snipz

"Second installment of the trilogy!
Using a huge reverb from Space in this track, fm'd Hertz Donut triggered from uStep/Z8000 combo, discordant cords from the Flame/A143-4 combo. Phonogen using spliced recording of actual baby inside mothers tummy using a phonograph (she's a midwife!), the end of splice actually clocking the whole track too!
Rubbery bassline from the AFG with pitch controlled by the Circuit Abbey ADSRjr..."

Ecole Berlin Deux

YouTube Uploaded by snipz on Apr 5, 2012

"Thought I'd give the Berlin School a little try.
All Euro format modular. Modcan Touch sequencer providing the bassline from an AFG through a Sound of Shadows. FM'd sounds from the Hertz Donut arpeggiated from the Flame Chord Machine which also pruduces quantized cv's for the quad VCLFO from Doepfer to provide the chords from the Pressure Points. Percussion from noise from Noise ring going through the notch pass of a Div 6 Filtare.
Lots of other stuff going on including the bouncing ball patch on Maths, and wavefolded sine from a Z3000.
Floral stuff thanks to a mild Spring in South London!"

Bass Z3000 (mixed waveforms) sequenced by Rene. Other sequence from the Modcan, AS95 through a A108 filter.

Noise from a Noisering randomly filtered from a Filtare filter using the Noisering cv.

Usual delay from El Capistan and reverb from Space."

The Quartet Test

YouTube Uploaded by snipz on Feb 13, 2012

"Machinedrum supplies percussion and master clock source.
PP controlling E340 thru various filters to create lead sound. Bass from AFG sequenced by Modcan Touch sequencer. Sport Modulator and Quantimator controlling MFB triple Osc to created randon slewed chord sound. 2x Ulfo's FM'ing each other thru a LGP controlled by A155.
Other stuf fgoing on but you get the idea...short sharp and to the point!"
